Recruitment of PhD, Post-Doctoral Fellows and Research Assistants

CHAMELEONS is a doctoral education programme intended to broaden employment opportunities. CHAMELEONS is open to doctoral students with an interest in connected health in the University of Oulu, University of Porto, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Maynooth University, and University College Dublin.

It consists of two elements which are available to CHAMELEONS students:

1. Three bespoke, one week-long modules, designed by stakeholders for Doctoral Students with the express intention of improving their employment options and opportunities:

Module 1: Forging relationships: Building and Sustaining your Doctoral Network
Module 2: Managing the Project: Keeping on Track with an Eye to the future
Module 3: Starting your Career: Future Proofing your Career and Getting a Job

It is intended that each module will attract 5 ECTS once they complete the approval process.

Module 1 will take place online over one week at the end of April 2021. Module 2 and 3 may take place face to face and in that case, students will be funded to travel to Portugal and Spain to participate in learning in a non-academic environment, should the health situation permit.

2. CHAMELEONS students may take modules in any of the five universities in the consortium. These modules have been specifically recommended as they are aimed at interdisciplinary and intersectoral learning with a focus on employment. Many of these modules have now moved online and are readily available to students, but face to face engagement will be possible once travel is allowed. These modules all carry ECTS credits.

CHAMELEONS offers the opportunity to network with colleagues from across the connected health sector. Stipends are available to facilitate travel (once the health situation permits).

The CHAMELEONS program will recruit 15 participants, who are currently registered PhD, Postdoctoral students, or research assistants employed in areas related to Connected Health (Health Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Design etc.) in one of the 5 academic institutions represented in the consortium. Their PhD funding is independent of CHAMELEONS.
